Leo Hartshorn |

Minister of Peace and Justice
Leo Hartshorn comes to this full-time position with the Mennonite Mission
Network after almost 30 years of service in various forms of pastoral
ministry in California, Texas, and Pennsylvania. Hartshorn is a graduate
of Ventura College (A.A.,1973), California Baptist College (B.A., 1975)
Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div., 1978) and Lancaster
Theological Seminary (D.Min., 2002). His doctoral thesis was An
(Ana)baptist Homiletic of Community: Preaching as a Communal and
Dialogical Practice. Hartshorn became a Mennonite in 1987 through the
influence of friend and baptist theologian, James Wm. McClendon, Jr. Being
drummer for over 40 years, Hartshorn has integrated his passions for peace
and drumming and is currently co-director Drumming for Peace, a rhythmic
peacebuilding project.
Hartshorn heads the Peace and Justice Support Network, whose joint purpose is to motivate and equip congregations to engage their context with the Gospel. Hartshorn will equip this team to make peace and justice a part of church planting, urban ministries, multicultural ministries, evangelism, and church development.
In addition to his training and consulting responsibilities with organizations, conferences and congregations - Leo develops peace and justice resources.
Leo and his wife, Iris de Leon-Hartshorn, Director of Peace and Justice Ministries for MCC US, live in Lancaster, PA and have three adult children.

Susan Mark Landis |

Peace Advocate
In her half-time position under Mennonite Church USA Executive Leadership, Landis
leads and organizes peace and justice advocacy work for Mennonite Church USA,
coordinates interdenominational relationships concerning peace and justice issues, and
networks and provides a structure for accountability for churchwide agencies and the Executive Leadership ministries around peace and justice issues.
As peace advocate, Landis ensures a peace and justice presence at Mennonite Church USA Assemblies, serves on the Executive Board anti-racism team, and provides a link to Mennonite World Conference, Christian Peacemaker Teams, and Peace Tax Fund. Contact her about the Student Aid Fund for Nonregistrants, follow-up on denominational statements, and other advocacy issues. Susan's joys are time with family (including husband Dennis and young adults Laura and Joel) and friends, working in the perennial beds, baking bread, knitting, chocolate, tea and thoughtful drama. She seeks whimsy and delight in the moment to balance the sad statistics of her work.

Christi Hoover Seidel |

Administrative Assistant
Chris is a graduate of Messiah College in Grantham, PA. She and her husband Tim served as Peace Development Workers in Palestine with the Mennonite Central Committee from 2004-2007. Their first child, Kai Emanuel, was born in Bethlehem in the West Bank in 2006. Chris and her family now reside in Lancaster City where she enjoys her time with Kai, working on the house, artwork, Arabic studies, reading and amateur gardening.

Lisa Amstutz |

Administrative Assistant
Lisa Amstutz serves fives hours a week as secretary in the Peace Advocate Office. She lives in Dalton, OH with her husband Michael and 4 children. They are in their sixth year of home schooling and have found that to be a rewarding challenge.
Lisa has a BA from Goshen college in Biology and an MA from the U of Virginia in Environmental Science/Ecology. She served in voluntary service at Camp Luz in Kidron, OH, including as head cook.
She loves to read and also enjoys writing, gardening and hiking. She is a member of Sonnenberg Mennonite Church, where she currently serves as Children's Ministry leader.
