We can take some assurance from God's word to Jeremiah many years
ago when God's people were in exile in Babylon:
"For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans
for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.
Then when you call upon me and pray to me, I will hear you. When you
search for me, you will find me: if you seek me with all your heart."
(Jer. 29:11)

- As members of Mennonite churches across the United States, we gathered to hear the voice of God’s Spirit in the wake of the horrific acts of violence on September 11 and the continuing violence of our own country in response. We were moved to confession, to a reaffirmation of our faith and identity as followers of Christ, and to action.
