Worship Resources for Observance of
The Fourth Anniversary of the War In Iraq
Our Lord and Savior who art in heaven,
Hallowed be your name. Only for you and your righteous will we die.
May your kingdom of peace and justice come to this war-torn world,
Your will be done as we seek right relationships with our enemies,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give all in the world the daily bread you have prepared for them to eat. Teach us to not take
more than our share.
Forgive us our trespasses against people we have never met as we are willing to not seek
revenge against those we have.
And forgive us, for we knew not what we did four years ago.
Lead us not into the temptation of silence,
But deliver us from the evil of self-righteousness.
Give us courage to seek your truth and persistence in telling it to our congregations, our
neighbors and our government.
Give peace of mind and body to soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder and mangled limbs.
Let no military person harm or be harmed. Comfort families.
For we give allegiance only to your kingdom, bow our knee only to your glory.
For ever and ever. Amen.
